Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing it by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, save files, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK and if clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre thinking of factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume down and the Home/Bixby button simultaneously
- Once at the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Navigate the Recovery menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option then highlight Yes and press Power again to confirm
- Once done, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: if clearing the phones cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Make sure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the phone to finish rebooting and then remove the Volume down button. Once done, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- Open Settings and go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall tow times
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device normally
