I have the same phone and the default setting is Manual.. I just checked mine and it is set to manual.... I have never had your problem and I have owned the phone for about 2 months . Anyone I know who has encountered what you are describing, ultimately found out that the problem was with the battery or the battery connection losing contact with the phone... Good luck hope this helps

Sorry to hear you are still having trouble.. I think it may be just your phone. We have 3 samsung phones in the house and I checked them all and they are all set to manual........... I would see if T-mobile would exchange it for you.... I'm sure you have some kind of warranty on it..... It is a nice little phone it would be sad to see you lose it... Only problem we have had with it, is we cannot download games other than from the t-mobile site...... good luck!

I don't know the tech difference.... I just know that all three of our samsung phones are set to manual and none of us have problems.... That's the way the phones came, we never changed it. The only reason I even checked it, was to see if I could help you out...Try leaving it on manual........
