I have the same phone, and the cable I use is part no.PKT133LBE (Canada). And the box actually says the cable is for the following phones. SGH-S500/E100/E700/X100/X600.
But it does work for the X497.

Yes, it came with the driver. I went to samsung and downloaded software. I think in order for any software to work, the phone has to be on, for it to be recognized. Any ideas appreciated...

There are driver support web sites. That is all I see... no numbers.

    Mislabeled Model Compatibility

I just got a new Verizon Wireless Samsung SCH-U740. It's the new flip-phone by Verizon that everyone has, the landscape and portrait one. Anyway, in my excitement of realizing that I could get almost any music from my computer to my new cell phone, I logged onto Amazon and immediately ordered the USB cord that was said to be compatible with my phone model. The cord arrived 2 to 3 business days later. I immediately plugged it into my laptop and opened my previously set up Sync-List in the Verizon Music Manager. No such luck. I installed the CD Software that came with the cable, BitPim. BitPim said that a phone was recognized. The purpose of BitPim is to add and take information from the phone. So the program could recognize the phone, but not do anything else. I searched online to find this forum, and all the problems with the cable. In conclusion, I only have one question. Is this cable in fact compatible with my phone model?

    Phone Information
    Carrier: Verizon Wireless
    Model: SCH-U740
    FCC ID: A3LSCHU710
    S/N: AA1P820YS/D-G

    Cable Information
    Purchased From: Amazon.com
...A Code on the Sticker: DAU-SM02
    S/N: WT048000317

    Thank you!
