I'm looking for some feedback from anyone using this phone currently. I saw someone with it the other day (Verizon) and wanted to get some input.

    Thanks...

I've had nothing but positive feedback. I've had a few people come back into the store with them because they were frustrated, but that stemmed from being unable to figure out how to use certain functions of the phone. I explained it, and they were happy as a clam. I've heard the reception on them is a little bit flaky, but the people I've dealt with haven't seemed to notice. I'd recommend it over the RAZR or a950.

I'm all set with the Razr, as a matter of fact, I A/B'd against the E815 and it wasn't even close. My thought was the Razr looks great when you take it out, but after that, you got nothin'...(sorry all you Razr fans...) Not to mention, I kind of like having a phone that you don't see everyone else with all the time.

Do you think the reception on the A930 has anything to do with the internal antenna?

PS. I was lucky too, my brother got one (Razr), tried it out, hated it. So I didn't have to go through that myself...LOL. The UI is weird and the whole time he kept looking over my shoulder at my 815. He kept the Razr for about a day or two, brought it back it got an 815. Problem with his though, is it came from a glitchy batch and he's on his 2nd or 3rd one now.

    Re: Sch-a930

I have an 815 as well. They're great phones except for the text messaging errors that they have. Every now and then, you'll go to send a text message, and the phone will reset on you. It's annoying. Other than that, it's awesome. I was actually thinking about selling mine and buying a chocolate...

EDIT: Oh, and the reception with the a930 could be linked to the internal antenna. Phones with internal antennas are notorious for getting less reception, but like I said...I haven't seen any reception problems with the a930. I've only read about them.

    Re: Sch-a930

Someone I work with has a Chocolate, it's pretty cool. I'm just not too big into the whole MP3 player thing. I apologize for not being informed enough about the other features it has. I have three MP3 players already and I haven't really seen a cel phone worth getting just for that feature, based on sound quality or available memory.

Put it this way, doing normal stuff on a cel phone sometimes is a major pain you-know-where...doing MP3 stuff probably sucks too.

Hope I'm not bumming anyone out by these comments. To each his own right?

Yeah, I wouldn't use the music player part of it either. I have a 30 gig iPod for that. I just like the phone.

Yeah. I think alot of times with that, people don't know that you're supposed to hold the phone a certain way to not interfere with the internal one.

I just scored a V65p on eBay this morning, hopefully I'll have it next week so I can start playing around with it. That's why I like SIM cards, you don't have to waste time with that whole ESN thing...

Yeah, unfortunately there are no GSM carriers that work in my area. Otherwise, I'd be all over that.

    Re: Sch-a930

I just returned a 930, primarily because it's all digital and I'm in a rural area where a tri-mode performs best. My experience was brief, less than a day and a half. My initial impressions, though. Was surprised and disappointed by battery life. The thing is a true brick -- looks much better than it feels. I found it hard to tell which side was up, frequently opening it upside down. It has a hard-to-describe awkward feel. The 1.3 MP camera is quite good, much better than I'd have predicted. Has a very strong speaker phone and a well-placed control for it (the 870 which I replaced it with has a poor speaker by comparison and a poorly placed and heard to use control button). Oddly, reception was horrid the first day and improved dramtically the second in same areas. Still, while it has good features, it's a brick and all-digital in an area that demands tri-mode. Hope this helps.

I love my a930. I looked at the razr, but as you said, I really dont want a phone someone else has (by the hundreds!) . I live in a great digital service area, so service is awesome. The antenna isnt anything to worry about if you heed the sticker on the phone. (dont hold your fingers here) . The camera is almost better than my standalone camera. the music quality is great, and the memory is decent, and it also supports a 1 gig micro sd card. I love it, and I would reccomend it to anyone.

What phone were you using before this? What do you think of the UI and layout of the keys?

Before this, I was using a Kyocera slider... bleh... I was with cricket. I love the keys, but the ui is same gay old verizon. very simplistic, but handy when youre in a hurry. the shortcut key is great, and its somewhat intuitive for most people. My 2 most used functions are messages and contacts, which are both soft-keyed. The keys are fairly well placed. I only find myself messing up keystrokes every once in a while, and i have rather large hands.

I hated the slider, but it was one of the cheapest phones offered at the time. I do very much love the a930.

the single solitary problem i have with my a930 is that my girlfriend ALWAYS hits the speakerphone key when she uses it. I never hit it, but she never misses it. I guess it just took some training of the thumbs.

Hey, I have the Samsung a930 from verizon and i got it a couple days ago. I have been trying to use bluetooth to put music on my phone. It wasnt working transfering. I read somewhere that the file needs to be a wma and not mp3. Then i downloaded a converter and tried to transfer a wma song. It still wont transfer. Is it even possible to add songs to the phone using bluetooth? If so, how do i do it? thankyou

    Re: Sch-a930

I've had the a930 for a few weeks now and it's absolutely awesome. Originally I had planned to go back and upgrade to the a990, but now there's just no reason to. I love everything about this phone, the clean and sleek setup, the blazing fast UI (if you've used a RAZR you know how bad it can be), the conservative outer screen which is extremely slick and unique as well as the bright and vibrant main screen. Texting, sending and receiving pix, flix, games, sounds, etc. is all done with extreme ease and very quickly. I got a 1GB SanDisk MicroSD card for it so that i can store some music but mostly all the caller ID pictures that i've taken with the great 1.3MP camera as well as a ton of custom mp3 ringtones that i made with a ringtone program and transfered to the flash card and use for free (as opposed to being crazy and downloading/paying for them). I really can't think of a single thing that I don't love about this phone, it's just awesome. Normal sound quality as well as speakerphone mode are both nice and crisp, and mp3 ringtones sound great on the speaker. The internal mp3 player also does its job, though that's what I have a laptop and ipod for. I would recommend this piece of work to every single person out there. Extremely satisfied.
