I've never used any of these fancy new phones but I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to pcs. My friend just got the Samsung SPH-M500 and called me up asking if he could dl some mp3s cause I guess it plays them just like that. Well after plugging in the USB cable, Windows was unable to determine the drivers needed. I searched all over for these, the model isn't even listed on Samsung's site (which sucks massive balls btw). I tried some with a similar name and the USB appeared to work but it still didn't show up. It's listing the CDMA modem as being unrecognized in system devices, is this what I need to have running? When trying to install the drivers for these my computer hardlocked everytime.
I'm not even sure where the phone would appear, I assume it would appear like a memory stick in My Computer and then I could just copy things to it, but without the right drivers I don't think it'll work. He said the chick that sold it to him said you could just plug it straight in and it'll work, I tried it on both my PC's with Windows XP Pro and neither would recognize it. So I don't know wtf, any insight would be appreciated.

Re: Sph-m500
Argh this fool. Called me when he got home and said there was some micro SD adapter. Think this is necessary to read/write to the mem card, true? Sorry I'm a pc gamer, never deal with any of these mobile devices even though I've been building my own pcs for years.

Re: Sph-m500
If the media goes on a microSD card you'll need an SD card reader to make the computer read the card. The adapter to fit the reader should come with the microSD card.

Done!
Now suppose that you want to add jpgs to your microSD memory card in order to use them as your cell phone screen saver. First, go to PICS/VIDEOS, CAMERA, OPTIONS, SETTINGS, SAVE PICTURE TO, MEMORY CARD. This will create the folders necessary on your phone. You can check the structure of the folder tree in TOOLS, MASS STORAGE, FILE MANAGER, MEMORY CARD.
You should now have an empty MEDIA folder, and a DCIM folder that contains a folder called 100SSMED (or something like that).
Using your USB connection to your PC transfer you PC's jpg to the 100SSMED folder and your MP3s to the MEDIA folder.
Good luck!
