i have run across this same problem. I cannot find any software for the u540 for use with data transfer. And it seems that nobody else can either.

This is terrible. I don't know if I can stand the Verizon standard tones but I refuse to buy them. I already paid for my music, I'm not going to pay again for a crappier version of it.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I just got the u540 and know nothing about this phone.I managed to add music thru VCast from my cds.Can someone tell me how to set ringtones from my music or via messages, like the post above. I don't know how to do this and tried the lame Samsung PC studio from download and it does not detect the phone. From what I read most people have that problem. Also tried Bitpim but if I was doing it right ,could not recognize this model.Any help would be appreciated.I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR RINGTONES.
Best Wishes for the New Year to all!!

I sense your apparent, though totally misguided attempt at sarcasm. PCs can, in fact, send PIX messages. It's called e-mail. Your Verizon phone's e-mal address is [email protected].

As for software, I do not believe that Samsung has ever created any aoftware for any of their phones, unlike Motorola. I do believe that BitPim is compatible with Samsung phones, but you will want to check the website.

As for your concern about crappy versions of your favorite songs as ringtones... once again, just PIX message your song files!
