I have this Samsung A640 and basically i replaced my old one with this one for the feature that allows me to take picture and or course make phone calls.

I got it from a cell phone store and they can't get the software that i need to be able to download the pictures from my phone to my computer. That is about it i want to do with it but they are telling me that they have a hard time to get the software.

What is the name of the software that i need, where can i get it or if you have the name of any software that can work with it let me know and i'll try to see if i can buy it somewhere.

    Thanks for your time

Sadly, I'm trying to answer the same question. I have the phone and cable, I even talked to some old tech dude at Samsung who swore he had no idea where I'd find the software, though they used to have it! Said my best bet was to search online for something from a 3rd party. Well, I've been searching for about a year. You're not alone. If I ever find anything, you'll be the next person to know.

I wish they had a site somewhere that could store all the software for the older phones. That way there would always be a way to keep those older phones in use.

I use BitPim ( Google it - I think it is BitPim.org ) -- They don't list the A640 directly as a supported phone, but selecting one of the SAmsungs close to it you can upload/download graphics, ringtones and contacts. I even did my Outlook calendar - but I quickly exceeded the space on the phone.

BitPim has to convert the audio file to load onto the Samsung. I forget if it converts wav files or only MP3? I have Yosemite Sam cursing as he is falling as a ring tone. Scares teh heck out of everyone when my phone starts screaming "Rats a frackin patty whackin ....."
