Camera problem Samsung u600...pls help

Hi,
I have a samsung u600 with which I am reasonably satisfied, only the camera is terrible. I have tried all sorts of combinations of ISO settings etc, but the shutter does not seem to activate until about 15 Seconds!!!! after being depressed. Initially it makes a peep sound after 1-2 secs, then 13 seconds or so later the shutter clicks. This is appalling....Surely this cannot be right?
