Just got my new rant - LOVE this phone

I would like to hear the spoken directions on the GPS through the headphone jack. I got a 2.5mm to 3.5 mm adapter, and ran it into my car stereo. The sound is working fine (I can play MP3s through the stereo), but I don't hear the directions.

In a perfect workld, I would like to be playing MP3s through the car stereo, and when the GPS has something to say, it would just say it over the music. Unfortunately, what happens is the music volume is somewhat erratic. It gets quiet when I start the GPS, then louder the next track change, then quiet again any time the GPS recalculates the route.

Is there any way to do what I'm trying to do? A) Can I get the spoken directions through the stereo at all? B) Can I get the spoken directions AND the music? Maybe I'm expecting too much? Thanks in advance...

Re: GPS and Headphones - Samsung Rant

By the way - this is through Sprint, in case that matters...

I played with this more today. Here's what I've found. I can get the GPS to talk through the stereo. For some reason the volume turns itself all the way down when I start the GPS. I just had to use the volume buttons on the side of the phone to get that to work (even though no volume display shows up when you hit them...just keep hitting up...).

However, it looks like I'm out of luck with the MP3 AND navigation. When I'm playing MP3s, the nav screen works fine, but I do not hear the audio.

If anyone knows of a way to get this work, please let me know, but it looks like a dead end. Thanks.
