My Sony Ericsson is unable to get a signal. When I power it down and turn it back on, it still says "Searching" and stays on that. I can't call out, when I try, it gives me three tones over and over. Talked with Tech support and they are unable to help me. Can anyone help me please?

Re: Z520a unable to call or get signal

First off,if you got the phone from a carrier, is your warranty still available? If it is, save yourself the hassle and have it replaced. If the warranty doesn't apply to your phone anymore, then there might be a few things that might alleviate the situation.

It could be your SIM card. If it is, just get another one and have your account transferred over to the new SIM. You might also want to check on the pins on your cell phone that connect to the pins and see if they are aligned properly...or wipe them down (as well as the backside of the SIM) to see if they are connected properly.

Since you stated that you talked to tech support, I'm guessing that you already did the usual troubleshooting steps. Probably the next step is to upgrade the phone's firmware by using Sony Ericsson's Update Service (SEUS). Check out SE's website, go to Support, and you can go from there. If you still get no signal on your phone from using SEUS, try flashing the fw with either wotanserver or davinciteam. Use a search engine to look up these 2 sites. And if you're still having problems, it might be a hardware issue with the main board.

Another thing to consider, it might be your provider's coverage in your area. Anyway, if nothing works or if it's too much of a hassle, just sell it for parts and use the money you gained from it towards a new phone.
