Backing Up Data
Backing Up Applications:
- Open the apps drawer and tap "Settings"
- Scroll down to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
- Mark the check box associated with "Backup my data"
- Tap "Backup account" and select a backup account. NOTE: if you need to set an account, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen instructions
Backing Up Contacts:
- From the home screen, tap the "Phone" icon
- Tap the "Contacts" icon located in the top-left corner
- Press the "menu" icon located in the lower-right side of the screen
- Tap "Back up contacts"
- Perform one of the following sets of steps:
- To back up contacts to the SIM card:
- Tap "SIM card"
- Select the desired contacts or tap "Mark All"
- Tap "Back up"
- When prompted, select either "Add contacts" or "Replace all contacts"
- Press "OK" to confirm (if prompted)
- To back up on the SD card:
- Tap "SD card"
- Tap "OK"
- To back up contacts to the SIM card:
Backing up Media Files Using Your Smartphone:
- From the home screen, tap the "All apps" icon
- Scroll to and open "Settings"
- Swipe to and tap "Storage"
- Tap "Transfer data to SD card". Follow any additional prompts
Backing up Media Files Using Your Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your computer
- When the Auto-Run window appears on the computer, click to open the device's folders
- Access the smartphone's "Internal storage"
- Navigate to where the desired media files are located and copy them
- Paste the files in the desired backup location on your computer's HDD
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone. (click "Safely Remove Hardware" from the system tray > "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
Restoring Data
Restoring Applications:
- From the home screen, tap the "All apps" icon
- Go to "Settings"
- Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
- Tap "Backup account" and select the desired account
- Mark the "Automatic restore" check box
Restoring Contacts:
- Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen
- Touch the "Contacts" icon located in the top-left side
- Tap the "Menu" icon located in the lower-right area
- Tap "Import contacts" and perform one of the following:
- To restore contacts from the SIM card: Tap each contact that you wish to import. Alternatively, tap "Import all"
- To restore contacts from the SD card:
- Tap "SD card"
- Select the vCard file containing your contacts
- Tap "OK"
Restoring Media Files from a Computer:
- Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB
- Navigate to where the media files are located on your computer
- Copy the desired files
- Navigate to your phone's "Internal storage"
- Paste the files in the desired folders on your smartphone
- After the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
- You can now disconnect your smartphone
