Transferring Contacts via Google Sync:

You can easily transfer the contacts from your Samsung Galaxy SIII to the Sony Xperia Z2 by first syncing them with your Google account. Once that is done, you can add the account on the Xperia Z2 and allow it to sync contacts with your device. To do so:

  1. On the Galaxy SIII, sign in with the Google account you wish to use
  2. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  3. Tap "Settings" and select "Google" under "My accounts"
  4. Tap your user name or email address
  5. Clear and then mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts". Optionally, you can tap "Sync now" instead
  6. Switch over to the Sony Xperia Z2
  7. Go to the "Settings" menu
  8. Tap "Accounts" and register the same Google account as the one used on the Galaxy SIII
  9. Once you sign in with the account, allow it to sync the contacts with your Xperia Z2

Transferring Contacts by Exporting and Importing:

You can export the contacts on the Galaxy SIII as a vCard, which can then be sent to the Xperia Z2 via email or by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB. To perform this method of transfer:

  1. Open the "Contacts" application on the SGSIII
  2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press "Menu"
  4. Tap "contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  5. Press "Menu" again and select "Import / Export"
  6. Tap "Export to SD card"
  7. Before tapping "OK", make sure you have recorded the backup file's name for future use
  8. After the file has been created, open the email client on the Galaxy SIII and create a new email with the vCard file attached to it
  9. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  10. On the Xperia Z2, launch the email client and open the email containing the attached file
  11. Download the vCard file and launch the "Phone" app
  12. Go to the "Contacts" tab
  13. From the menu, select to "Import Contacts" from storage / SD card
  14. Select the desired vCard file and tap "OK"

NOTE: as an alternative, once the vCard file has been created on the Galaxy SIII, you can transfer it to the Sony Xperia Z2 by first copying it on a computer via USB. Then, you can connect the Xperia Z2 to the computer using the USB cable, and transfer the file on the phone's storage before importing it with the contacts application

Transferring Files via "Send Anywhere":

Send Anywhere is a third party application that can be used for contact transfer without needing a computer. The app uses a peer-2-peer connection in order to perform the transfer, and you can perform this method by following the steps below:

  1. Launch the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both of your smartphones
  2. Open the app on both handsets
  3. Switch over to the Galaxy SIII and tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Select the contacts that you wish to share and tap "Send"
  5. Finally, select the desired method of contact transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Galaxy SIII in order to create a QR code which can be scanned with the Xperia Z2's camera to commence the transfer. Optionally, you can tap "Receive" on the Xperia Z2's screen, and enter the transfer code from the Galaxy SIII
