  5. Tap "Export to SD card" and make sure you record the backup file's name for future use
  6. Tap "OK" and launch the email app on your SGSIII Mini
  7. Compose a new email and attach the vCard file to it
  8. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  9. Switch over to the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
  10. Open the email containing the vCard file and download it
  11. Next, launch the "Phone" application on the Xperia, and go to the "Contacts" tab
  12. Access the menu and select to "Import Contacts"
  13. Select an account if necessary, and load the vCard file
  14. Tap "OK"

NOTE: once you have obtained the VCF file on the SGSIII Mini, you can transfer it on the Xperia Z1 Compact by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and copy > pasting the file from the SIII Mini to the Z1 Compact's "sdcard" directory. Then, import the file's contents as explained above

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Finally you can also use "Send Anywhere" to easily transfer your contacts. Send Anywhere is a third party application that can be used for contact transfer over a P2P connection. As such, there's no need for a computer in the process.

  1. Visit the Google Play Store and download "Send Anywhere" on both the Mini and the Compact
  2. Launch the app on both smartphones
  3. On the Galaxy SIII Mini, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Mark the contacts that you wish to share and press "Send"
  5. Choose the desired method of transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Galaxy SIII Mini and scan the resulting QR Code with the Z1 Compact's camera to begin the transfer. Alternatively, you can also tap "Receive" on the Compact and enter the randomly generated transfer code from the SGSIII Mini
