Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
  4. To back up application data to your Google account, enable “Back up my data”
  5. To allow app data to be automatically restored upon reinstallation or signing in with your Google backup account, enable “Automatic Restore”

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to, and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the account type and account you want to use
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your backup account

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia X Performance to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone, using the File Explorer on the PC
  5. Copy the desired media files form the phone, and transfer them on the PC storage
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Sony device to your computer using the USB cord
  2. Turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups located on the PC
  5. Copy the desired files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder they originate from
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
