Back Up Application Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to personal and tap Backup & reset
- Turn on Back up my data to back up app data and settings to your Google account
- Turn on Automatic Restore to allow app data to be restored automatically when signing in with your backup Google account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account for contact syncing
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between your computer and Sony smartphone
- Turn on Media Device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media files on your phone
- Copy the media files and transfer them in the desired backup storage on the PC
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Sony Xperia XA Ultra to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer (MTP) / Media device (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the Media folder or the directories they originate from
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
