    France Vs England
    France 2 - 1 England

    Frank Lampard 39mins
    Zinedine Zidane 91mins Free Kick
    Zidane 93 mins Penalty

England started the game really well putting pressure on the french defence, young striker wayne rooney had the french denfence crying us a river! before the half frank lampard nets a header from a david beckham free kick. in the second half wayne rooney is fouled in the penalty area by micheal silvestre. Beckham penalty saved by Fabian Barthez. in the final minutes in injury time emile heskey fouling a french player giving a away a free kick close to the englands penalty area. Zidane stuck a amazing free kick right into the englands goal david james didnt it move to save it. 2 mins after a bad back pass from steven gerard. giving the ball away to the deadly aresnal assissin thierry henry. leaving a 1on1 with the keeper david james brings henry down in the penalty area david james given a yellow card which is debatable about it being red. anyways france is also awarded a penalty and zidane steps up and sends david james the wrong way. what a way to end that match france awarded the 3 points england get nothing and find themselves currently at the bottom of the group b table.
cnt believe it! u cnt always get want u want eh england... we'll beat switzerland and croatia

    Group B

    Day 3

    Denmark Vs Italy
    Denmark 0-0 Italy

The Danes had the best of the possession and the chances in the first half against a nervy Italian side with Thomas Helveg twice going close.
The Italians, who will now be under pressure in their second game against Sweden on Friday, were brighter after the break but could not find a way past goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

The result means Denmark have now played four European championship finals matches without scoring after their poor showing in Euro 2000.

Although Italy had the first chance when Francesco Totti's powerful 25-metre free kick was tipped away by Sorensen, it was the Danes who took the initiative, pushing forward on the flanks and getting early control of the central midfield areas.

Italy keeper Gianluigi Buffon was pressed into action in the 16th minute, pushing over a left-foot drive from Helveg who had opened up space by cutting in from the right.

Denmark striker Jon Dahl Tomasson was making himself a nuisance for the Italian defence and, although he was booked in the 29th minute for diving, he went close with a flashing header four minutes later and then set up Helveg who fired just wide.

The best chances for both sides came right on the stroke of halftime with Sorensen making a great double save to foil Alessandro Del Piero and then Totti, both from close range.

At the other end the Danes could have gone in with a lead they probably deserved when Martin Joergensen's low shot forced a good save out of Buffon after good work from the lively Dennis Rommedahl down the right.

After surviving that scare at the end of a poor first half showing, the Italians were more determined and effective after the interval, creating two good openings straight away.

Totti produced a superb pass to put in Gianluca Zambrotta but the left-back shot harmlessly across the face of goal.

Then Zambrotta, pushing forward with more urgency, found Christian Vieri with a well delivered cross and Sorensen did well to push the striker's firm header over the bar.

Moments later Christian Panucci wasted a chance when, unattended by the Danish defence, he headed wide from a Totti corner.

Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni brought on Gennaro Gattuso for Cristiano Zanetti in midfield and Antonio Cassano for the disappointing Del Piero as he looked to break the deadlock.

But Denmark almost caught them on the break when the pacey Rommedahl burst forward and was only stopped by a body check from Fabio Cannavaro which resulted in a deserved yellow card for the Italy captain.

The Danes went close to a winner in the 75th minute when Buffon did well to block a Tomasson shot and Rommedahl was unable to make the most of the rebound.

    Sweden Vs Bulgaria
    Sweden 5-0 Bulgaria

    Goal Scorers all Swedish
    Fredrik Ljungberg 31mins
    Henrik Larsson 56,57mins
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic 77mins (Penalty)
    Marcus ALLBÄCK 90mins

Henrik Larsson scored a quick-fire double to help fire Sweden to a 5-0 win over Bulgaria that will have piled the pressure on to Euro 2004 group C rivals Denmark and Italy.

Two goals in the space of a minute from the former Celtic striker killed off Bulgaria and demonstrated just why all of Sweden had been desperate for him to come out of international retirement to lead the drive for glory in Portugal.

Larsson's double, his 26th and 27th goals for his country on his 75th international appearance, came just before the hour mark after Freddie Ljungberg had given the Swedes a first half lead.

A 78th-minute penalty from Larsson's strike partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic, awarded after Ljungberg was brought down by Vladimir Ivanov, and a last-minute strike by Marcus Allback completed the rout.

Sweden joint coach Lars Lagerback said it was a joy to have a player like Larsson in one's team.

"You could say it is easy to be a coach when you have a player like Henrik Larsson," said the 55-year-old.

Convincing as Sweden's win ultimately was, Bulgaria generated sufficient chances early on to suggest that neither Denmark nor Italy, who drew 0-0 earlier in the day, will find them pushovers.

Sweden who made the breakthrough, thanks to a well-timed run by Ibrahimovic through the inside right channel that beat the offside trap.

The Ajax striker advanced into the box and drew goalkeeper Zdravko Zdravkov off his line before squaring the ball for Ljungberg to sweep the ball into an empty net from six yards out.

Stilian Petrov went close to delivering an immediate riposte but the Bulgarian skipper's volley flew narrowly wide of Isaksson's right-hand post.

Sweden had a let off two minutes after the restart when another excellent cross from Martin Petrov found Jankovic, who directed his header wide of the target.

Ljungberg was equally profligate when he broke into the Bulgarian box only to shoot straight at the outcoming Zdravkov.

It was a miss that could have cost Sweden dear had the Martin Petrov shot which followed been inside rather than fractionally outside Isaksson's post with the Swedish goalkeeper beaten.

That was to prove Bulgaria's last chance as Larsson applied the killer touch with his quickfire double strike.

The first was the best of the tournament so far; a textbook diving header from left-back Erik Edman's cross.

Bulgaria were still reeling from that blow when Larsson found himself lurking at the back post in the perfect position to finish off Anders Svensson's well-judged cross from the right.

    Group C
    Sweden 3pts
    Denmark 1pts

    Italy 1pts
    Bulgaria 0pts
