is it possible to use a phone to go online on a PC, not a laptop? if so, is it as simple as plugging it in and thats it? also, are you charged extra by T-Mobile or is this considered regular use?

You can use your handset as a modem. You have to get T-Mobile internet added to your account. The internet will come to your phone, which will act as the modem. You'll need a data cable to connect your cell phone to your computer. You will also need to call tech support to configure your phone to act as a modem. It's not lightning fast, speed is comparable to 56k.

damn I have to do all that....comparable to 56k? EDGE is certainly faster than that, right? so T-Mobile internet is different than T-Zones? and can I use the data cable that came with my phone?

Yes, EDGE is faster than GPRS. GPRS will come through similar to 56K. As far as speed, EDGE sits somewhere in between GPRS and Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi is comparable to broadband speed. Except that, unlike Verizon, we don't call it broadband because you need some kind of wire connection to the internet for a connection to be considered "broadband." Verizon kind of coined it's own definition on that one.

Sure, all phones support GPRS, like above post say need data cable in order to use this feature, thats correct GPRS is similar as dial up, however it can go up to 80kbps so 60-80kbps. and as for EDGE right now RAZOR is the only phone that does support EDGE and it is much faster than GPRS and it can go up to 700kbps or 400-700kbps.

EDGE is available in few areas, but T-Mobile did announced it would roll out to all T-Mobile Network in Sept 2006.
