Hi all, I purchased the Sidekick 3 off of ebay last night. The Sellers says its a "Dummy Phone" & is "Store Display Model", Anyways I figured that maybe I could use a chip to get the phone to work and everything, But just to make sure - I called T-Mobile last night and they said its a "Unlocked" phone and that if I put the chip inside it, Then it should work perfectly. Well I emailed the seller and told her what T-Mobile said, This is what she replied -
"I think you are confused. This is a TMobile dummy phone. It does not work even if you put a SIM card in it. It is only used for display purposes or to maybe replace small parts for an old sidekick."
I don't know what too do! Should I continue or cancel this?
I really want this phone bad and I want too be able to
properly use it, But yet T-Mobile says its no big deal and
that when I put the chip in it will work.
Please Help!
-Taylor

Re: Need Some Help Here
That's quite the predicament...i dont think you should get it...to be on the safe side also money-wise. if the person selling is tell you it wont work, perhaps she's tried? i'd go with the sellers saying.

Re: Need Some Help Here
ooo ooo! K i just called T-mobile for you cos i was super intruiged. They said it should work, but it might be a used cell that had problems. O_o;; Also they said they wouldn't reccomend buying it off a random person from Ebay I had quite the convo with these people...if it is, infact on, in that picture and doesn't have that fake screen in, personally I guess I see no reason why it wouldn't work. I still pretty much wouldn't buy it tho, onl cause i wouldn't want the disappointment if it didn't...GL on that.

Re: Need Some Help Here
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to get it - And if it doesn't work then I could re-sell it on ebay. But here's my other question, Because I don't have a plan and I get this sidekick in the mail, Will it still turn on and can I still add contacts and take pictures and play games? But just not call, text or IM - Cuz I don't have a plan?

The "small parts" the seller is referring to are probably things on the outside like battery cover, buttons, and keypad... the inside of this dummy phone is probably empty (no circuitry=no worky). I'd probably bet your questions to the seller weren't specific enough and people on ebay just to get rid of their old junk for some money, not to volunteer information that wasn't asked in the first place which might lose them a sale.
When buying things on ebay, you sometimes have to ask VERY specific questions like "does this phone turn on" and "does it have the internal working parts of a real sidekick", these are things you should ask the SELLER not us because last time I checked, Madame Blavatsky is not a member of our site so nobody here can tell you what only the seller knows.
Lastly, if you are the one who bid on this dummy phone today, and you find it to a "dummy phone" when you get it, please do not resell it on ebay to the next poor schmuck without telling them it's a "dummy" phone.Last edited by Brad729; 06-06-2007 at 03:54 PM.

No...I don't think so. It doesn't look like the screen is to real, if you give it a hard look. Plus it even says in big letters it doesn't work.

Re: Need Some Help Here - Sidekick 3
a dummy phone is just for display. it will not work if you put your sim card in it. its for like stores to display. cancel quickly. its a waste of your money !
