    Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, but not to forums in general. I hope someone can help as I am at wits end. July 5th of 2007 I recieved my new phone from T-Mobile whom which I was not a customer prior to that. And since that time my phone has been sending ghost text messages from it to the number 206-313-0004 which from what they tell me is thier generic message center number. I have not even been doing any text messages. They first swapped out my sim card and then swapped the phone. They even gave me a new number. Both of the numbers that they gave me were brand new never used numbers, yet I still have the same problems. I have spent about 9-10 hrs on the phone with them yet no solution. Last time I spoke to them was fri night and they cannot explaine what is happening. The techs have been all through it and they don't know what to do. They tried to give me a fax number to fax a letter explaining the problem and that the number was to the higher ups. I dont feel that I should have to do that. I think that they should be the ones that are to contact who eever they have to and try to figure something out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this to happen.

    thanks in advance,
    theo

Sounds incredibly strange. It could be either a complete glitch in the system or, perhaps, it may even be a ghost in the system!

I don't think there is any ghost in your cell phone. T-mobile has a bad reputation of adding these fake txt messaging charges to the number 206-313-0004. This is their SMS messaging center number and they claim that all the calls are routed through this number and that is why you see this number in your bill. Just google on 206-313-004 and you will see many other users running into it.

I see 16 text messaging charges in my current on-going bill of 10 days and I have NEVER EVER sent/received any text message. I have my phone with me all the time. Talked to T-mobile and they won't accept it and it shows that all the calls are made from the handset in their system. And they won't take off text messaging feature from my account.

After discussion with the t-mobile customer service rep for 45 mins, he told me the trick. Change the phone number for text messaging routing center to (111)111-1111 in your phone settings and it should error out when it has to send the text message. And hopefully you should stop seeing all those fraudulent charges on your bill. I just changed the setting 2 days ago and have yet to confirm if it works.

Follow Up: Changing the text messagin routing center number works, but when you reboot your cell phone it will change the number back to the t-mobile messaging routing center number again. So you have to do this exercise everytime. Plus to make the matter worse, you may see text messaging charges for the text messages being sent when you cell phone was switched off. My 2 cents.

I work with a law firm that is investigating T-Mobile for the way it bundles text messaging into its wireless plans. T-Mobile makes text-messaging a mandatory part of all its cell plans. That means some consumers are hit with text charges they didn’t want, including advertisements and spam.

Other service providers allow customers to turn off the text messaging function, but that isn’t the case with T-Mobile.

We would love to hear from you about your experience. Please send us an e-mail at [email protected], give us a call at 206-623-7292 or visit hbsslaw.com

Finally got a work around to fix all the Text Messaging charges added by T-mobile, which worked for me.

T-mobile did not want to take off text messaging feature from my account. Said there is no way to take it off. But what can be done is instead of charging me $0.15 for each text message (generated by their own system), they will take off 1 minute from my monthly balance. I have family plan with 1000 minutes and a land line. My monthly usage is not even 500 minutes and it works for me. And ever since they did it, I don't see any minutes deducted from my account for text messages.

SO if you monthly usage isn't a lot, then you can ask T-mobile to take 1 minute off from your regular minutes for each text message. Don't do it if you end up using the entire balance of your month, otherwise you may end up paying much more money for the extra minutes usage.

I have a PDA phone (Wing) and I can go to phone settings and change it. Even though you can change it, it may not work. See my follow-up reply with the solution that really worked for me.
