My contract with Sprint will end on 14 April 2008. Here's the deal, I REALLY want an HTC Tytan II or Tilt. I'm on the fence over which one. To my knowledge, they are only sold by AT&T. So, here's the interesting part. MANY people have told me that AT&T's customer service leaves ALOT to be desired. Plus, their plans weren't as attractive as t-Mobile's. I plan on purchasing an unlocked Tilt or Tytan II Kaiser. Also, I will be getting a new t-mobile account with the Blackberry Pearl. My questions are:

Is the person that purchases the Pearl from me likely to have any problems setting it up?

If I open an account w.T-Mobile within the next week or so and wait until the end of March to activate, will my billing cycle begin upon activation or delivery? It seems that it would begin once it's activated, but I'm not sure.

Is there anything special I have to do to set up the unlocked phone other than inserting the Sim card and booting the phone up? I've never dealt with Sim cards, so this will also be a first for me.

Any suggestions on where to purchase an unlocked phone/places to avoid?

    Your suggestions/help are appreciated.

    Hey,
    I'm glad you're goin to T-Mo
I've been with them since '03 and don't plan on leaving them at any point in time
I'm also wating to buy the Tilt around summertime hopefully
But yeah, get it unlocked, put your SIM card in
And you can use your phone
If you want to set up your phone for the internet and picture messaging
go ahead and use the configuration link available on the forum
I'm assuming we would be able to chose the Wing as your phone to get the settings
Anyways, Att customer service is horrible to me
and really inconvenient since they close at 9, I get off work around 10
So I can't talk to them when I want to
Where I can call T-mo at 3AM and get a helpful and friendly rep helping me with whatever problem I have.
    Anything else? =]

    Hi,

All you have to do is insert your sim card and you are ready to go. T-Mobile will need your SIM card info to activate it for T-Mobile, but T-Mobile has no restrictions on un-locked phones.

If you are looking for a reputable source to buy un-locked phones, go to MOTOROLA.COM, they sell un-locked phones.

Keep in mind that depending on your phone it may not have some of the features "YOUR" phone has if you purchased it from T-Mobile.

If you want all the bells ans whistles for your phone, you can search the net for a forum that has your phone , and ask if anyone has a T-Mobile phone like yours; if so ask if they would be willing to upload the software overlays, refereed to as the "flash files". You can use Flash Backup (google it) to copy your original files, then re-load the uploaded flash files with the T-Mobile overlays.

    Best
