I currently am on a family plan of 3 lines (including myself) on T-Mobile and am eligable for an upgrade. The total monthly bill is $140 and I want to keep it that way or even lower it. I have fallen in love with the HTC HD2 but it requires that stupid $30 web plan which I don't care for. I want to just use the phone and possibly get a regular web plan.

What I want to know:
1. Can I buy the HD2 separately and then just use the $10 regular web plan? Or does the phone simply not work without the $30 plan?

2. If I don't get the HD2, which other smart phone would you recommend looking into that I could use without the $30 web plan? Non-T-Mobile phones are okay too (just no iPhone).
