I've read that the largest MMC card for the 6230i is 512MB. I've also seen
websites selling 2GB cards, stating that they are compatible for the 6230i.

Anyone used a card larger than 512MB and can offer advice on what to go for?

    Cheers

The same claims were made about my 6230 (not 6230i). I bought a 1GB MMC
from mobymemory.com which works perfectly. With older firmware the size
was misreported and the phone's format function corrupted the card's
filesystem. In later firmwares these were both fixed. The card could
be formatted in the a USB card reader in any case. They also sell 2GB
ones which I'm sure will work. Some cards don't work in some phones,
but mobymemory test them to ensure the ones they sell do work.

Yes, I was a bit confused when I wanted to install a larger card for
my 6230i. You might find the posts through Google groups.
Mainly I wasn't sure which cards would be compatible.
I purchased a 1GB RS MMC card from mobymemory and a USB reader/writer.
The reason I got the RS was because i thought it might fit into a
newer handset I might have in th efuture.

    IMPORTANT:
You have to format the card on your computer NOT on the phone.

I did have some trouble at first in getting my computer to see the
card in the reader. I would recommend that immediately after you have
formatted the card, whilst plugged into the computer, that you copy a
small text file to it and keep it there. I won't go into just why here
but, trust me, that is sound advice.

The USB device is so useful because you can load up your files in
seconds instead of many minutes via bluetooth.
I only use the phone for podcasts - I use my MP3 player for music.
That is because the player in the phone is somewhat lacking in
    facilities.
