    Hello

I've just moved from Orange to O2 and wanted to port my existing number. I
bought over the interweb and there was no option to do this at the point of
purchase. Now O2 say it is impossible to do and refer me to the vendor.. Is
this correct or are they just lazy? Last year when I moved to Orange from T
mobile, I did the porting after I received the new phones..

    Cheers

You need to request a PAC code from Orange before you kill your orange
    account.

Then you need to let O2 know :

    Name:
    Postcode:
    O2 Online order number:
    New O2 Online mobile number:
New O2 Online SIM card number:
PAC from your current service provider:
Mobile number you wish to keep:

Please make sure that your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) is accurate,
matches the mobile number you wish to keep and is still valid, as PAC codes
    are
only valid for 30 days from the issue date. All PAC codes should start with
    3
letters followed by 6 numbers. EG: ORG123456

If you didn't but the new O2 phone/contract from O2, then you have to
contact the retailer with the same info above, but substituting the Order
    Number with their reference.

    >Hi thanks for the info

I have been referred to the vendor by O2 as I bought from one of CPWs many
aliases, but they say that they don't have any facility to carry out porting
for O2 (they say they can do it for others). I do have my PAC number from
Orange, but no-one seems to be able to use it :-(

So am I stuck? or is it something I could complain more loudly about to get
    a result?

    Thanks

If you bought the phone through O2 online then fill in the form in
their help section and someone in India will arrange it for you.

If you are on a high street tariff, or connected through a dealer then
you have to give your PAC code at point of purchase. O2's systems
cannot retrospectively do it once your account has been activated if
your an "offline" customer. CPW for example will only activate your O2
contract when your number ports, they don't give you a temporary phone
    number like the other networks.

Your only option is to return if it's within 14 days and re-order it,
providing a PAC code at point of purchase.
