I am thinking of starting a new 18 month contract with T-Mobile web and
walk for additional 7.50 Per Month.
Apparently, customers can no longer cancel their contract within the 14
days cooling off period unless they have poor signal.
Does anyone know if the following applications are free with Web&Walk,
or could anyone please test the following Mobile internet applications
(Java applications) to see if they come under the Web and Walk tariff:
UltraIMPro (Free Trial Download)
G-Mail application (Free Available from their WAP site, might be
online)
Google Maps
Downloading video (Example: BBC.co.uk/mobile)
I wouldn't want to join an 18 month contract. Unless this was free.
Thanks Guys
Tom

All GPRS is free on WnW which covers all of that.
It is just that some things are not permitted in the T&Cs.
If by "downloading video" you mean using the phone as a modem that
technically needs WnW plus, though there is no record of anyone ever
having been even warned.
If you want 3G check the coverage first. There are some large gaps like
almost all of North Wales: where I'd want it Grrr....

When I mean downloading video, thats just 3gp from bbc.co.uk/mobile
I think as long as you use it as fair usage (not going mad on it) its
OK?
Just want to make sure those applications work cause they may use
different port other than port 80 (which is open for internet) and
ports 110 and 25 for email. Would these be the only ports t-mobile have
opened for mobile internet?
Ultraim uses encryption so it should work anyway if T-mobile allow
encryption.
I do know however, that T-mobile has a poorer signal where I work.

Well technically instant messaging and video download is against the
T&Cs of WnW. IMHO if you don't use it excessively though you should be
OK. The T&Cs say you'll be warned first then network speed reduced and
no one has reported even being warned yet.

I'm not aware of any port blocking on T-mobile GPRS. I use an encrypted
ssh tunnel on a non standard port for some things and have no problems
with it.
If you have a suitable phone you could always try it with PAYG first.
