Are you a spammer, or don't you realise the recipient needs to pay £5
    for that "free" service?

Certainly interesting for a poster using a US cable network to access the
internet, to be asking about sending text messages to UK mobile phones.
But it could be a legitimate question.

I have used Cardboard Fish to send SMS messages from a computer (and
receive replies), and not had any complaints from recipients.
<http://www.cbfsms.com/>. I have no interest in or connection with that
    company.

There's a URL in the message sent out from FreebieSMS, that, if you
follow it, you can read the message online for free.

So although it costs to read via premium SMS, you can read it for free
online, so that's where the "freebie" part is. It's not free if you
don't have access to the internet, but most people have nowadays.

Which as the whole concept of SMS is sending a message to a mobile phone,
    is meaningless.

    Next..?

That's a bit hard, especially as the whole concept of a mobile 'phone is
    to ...
... take pictures and video clips and send them to other 'phones
... listen to FM radio or MP3 files
    ... surf the internet
    ...

oh, it has a rather odd function of allowing you to make 'phone calls
and talk to other people as well ;-)
