    Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but a search through google groups had
quite old info. Virgin want £15 to unlock my phone, is there a cheaper way
    to do it?

    Many thanks,
    Dave

I doubt it. To unlock it with (for example) BB5Box, you need to dismantle
the handset and testpoint it. On the plus side, the 6300 does have decent
sized testpoints, but it is easy to brick them by piercing the solder pads.

Unlikely, even at a car boot sale, and this way there is no risk of killing
    your phone.

Cheers, I thought there would've been a code generator based on IMEI like
previous models.. no such thing it seems (yet, anyway)

Buy an I-SmartSim 2008. Fits over a Sim (after cutting a notch)
and stops the SP lock from working

Check out eBay, well under a tenner.

No, nothing for BB5 yet (nor in the forseeable future).

Just hope it works first time, and don't remove it and your SIM card too
often. I've tried a few different variants of these, and personally I
wouldn't use any of them - they're just too unreliable and flimsy.

That's the best type to get, the new non sticky ones.

The one's i've got were the light brown sticky ones,
don't try to reuse them on other Sims

What chance does anyone give this little device for fooling an old HP
Jornada 920 PDA into becoming unlocked? Anyone tried it?

    I did and it doesn't.

PS. It took ages to arrive by post.
PPS. It isn't always necessary to cut a slot in your SIM to use it.
PPPS. That's a fiver you owe me :-)

I ordered one from Hong Kong for £4.88, to try in various phones, 2G
and 3G, it was very awkward to get lined up, (some phones being worse
than others), and wouldn't work for me in any of them, but it did arrive
    in a reasonable time.
