I was thinking about getting US Cellular and was wondering if the free free incoming calls included people calling me from a different company like verizon or att. I was also wondering since I have family in montreal, quebec if they called my phone would it cost me? You see I'm getting a cell phone to replace my home phone service compelety because I'm tired of going home or using a pay phone to make a call. So can anyone help me out with my two questions? I'm also going to the get lg ux260 (aka the rumor or scoop) is it any good? I heard about it restarting and all this stuff but on sprint and alltel does it do this on us cellular?

Re: US Cellular free incoming calls?

Generally, when they say free incoming calls it means free incoming calls from domestic locations from people with any provider...even landlines.

If the person called you from Montreal, Quebec, you would not be eligible for a free incoming call...you would pay international calling fees.

Re: US Cellular free incoming calls?

That stinks. I was looking at the National coverage map for US Cellular and it looks similar to verizon. I've heard that they use verizons tower. I have verizon right now but want to switch to a family plan and I figure if I'm getting the same signal everywhere that I get with my phone now why not save some money. Can anyone verify that? Everywhere I get verizon signal I'll get it with us cellular?

    If it rings, it's free

All incoming calls are free with U.S. Cellular, including those from international carriers. If the phone rings, it's free. Same with text & picture messages.

If you call your Quebecois family, you'll pay international dialing rates, but it will cost you nothing when they call you. Zilch. Nada. Gratis.

You will get coverage with US Cell everywhere you get Verizon coverage. VZ is their main roaming partner. So, in US Cell areas, you're on them, but elsewhere you're usually on Verizon. But if VZ isn't available you'll roam on Sprint or whatever CDMA carrier their is.

I do a fair amount of travelling and I've never had any issues with roaming, and my US Cellular phone always has signal in the USCC markets, even when others do not.

The LG 260 is pretty good if you're looking for a texting phone. You also might like the Motorola Hint.

If you're in a 2-year contract, you can get your new phone (at 2-yr contract pricing) after 18 months. If you're like me and like to change phones more often, you might want to look at a 1-year contract and pay just a little more for the phone.
