I have the Virgin Vox 8610 and notice at the top of the screen a little "D" in the upper left of screen. I looked in the Vox 8610 and the explanation for the "D" is:

"Digital Mode - Phone is operating in digital mode or 1x service area."

No other info is given!

Why is it there? Is it something that I might have set? Does it need to be there? Can it be disabled? Is it needed? Just what does that mean? Should it remain there?
