I am looking to buy a Razr V3 phone, I currently have service through Nextel and want to keep my phone number, what are the advantages of paying more money for an unlocked version? Can I use other providers other than Cingular and will they support all the phones features? If I have an unlocked phone must I sign up for two year service or can I go month to month?

    I appreciate any suggestions

My unlocked V620 works with any sim card that i have put in it and "Yes" it uses the same phone number (you do have a sim card, don't you??). Everything is on the card.

That said, a friends unlocked razr v3 works with his Cingular and T-mobile cards......this I know for sure. Does it work with Nextel..... don't know but would think that unlocked means unlocked :-)

Lastly, what ever service contract you have with that Nextel sim card will continue, doesn't matter where it's at or what phone it's in....

    Sims Card

Sorry to be a pain in A__, but you've got the answers, Yes I have a Sims card in my Nextel i90. I need a bluetooth phone that will pair with my car Nextel does not offer one. I like the Razr V3, and it will work with my auto.

I'm guessing that I still have to change service providers in order to get the phones functions, Do I to use Cingular if I got a unlocked phone?

Thanks a lot for your help

Since cingular bought/merged or what-ever with ATT, they now have more coverage than before and definitely more areas of coverage than any other provider in the states.
All the other providers are sucking signal bandwidth off all the PacBell towers anyway so I'm sticking with cingular even thou the customer care service sucks.
