Hey everyone, yesterday at work I dropped my phone (Verizon LG VX6000) on concrete and it immediately turned off, and wouldn't turn back on. At this point I was thinking it's still fixable, maybe the battery was damaged and not the phone. A couple of months ago my phone kept shutting off and restarting automatically and all it took was a battery replacement. So this time (back to the present) I figured I'd wait until I got home to put in a new battery to see if it would work or not. Well, along comes the ***hole co-worker. Grabs my phone that was sitting on the table and says, "BRRRrrroken cell phone!" He then proceeds to throw it in the air and it hits concrete once more, this time the bottom half of the phone (where the keypad and battery are located) split in half leaving the chip inside visible. I don't know how I managed to refrain from rearranging his face. So that brings me to now, a broken phone that won't turn on. I have no insurance, so I'm going to make him pay for it (in which he will reply f*** no, in which I will reply by telling the boss). However, my hundreds of contacts and pictures are still on that unuseable phone. Is there any way I can get my phone to work? If not, is there any way I can swap the contacts onto a new phone? I was thinking of taking it to a RadioShack or Verizon store to see if they could do anything, or is that a dumb idea? Thanks in advance

I have a feeling that you are SOL. Now that the phone shows actual damage, even if it was brand spanking new out of a box and damaged like that, no one would replace it for you.

But having said that, it never hurts to ask. As for the nimrod that caused the cracked damage... how did he know that it was already "broken"? And yes I'd be asking him to fork up the money for at least half the phone, since you have no idea if putting a new battery in it would "fix" it or not.

Verizon or RS may be able to get the contacts and pics off the dead phone, but don't expect it to happen. Again, never hurts to ask.

Problem somewhat solved. I took my phone to a local RadioShack which is now Cingular/Sprint, but they still helped me out because at the time I bought my phone from them they were Verizon. Anyway, they told me that I was missing contact between the battery and the circuit board. When I dropped it I'm assuming this piece (three prongs I believe) broke off. He plugged it into a charger that plugs directly to the board and the phone booted right up. This is good news, becasue now I know the problem isn't the actual circuit board, its just not getting power.
