Ok, so I'm switching to T-Mobile sometime in the next few months and I'm probably going to be using it a lot internationally. I'm going to be giving my phone to my family members if any of them go out of the country, too. Now, I'm a perfect candidate for a Sidekick3 (kid, text a ton, love looking stuff up on the web), but I may be going to China this spring and China Mobile through T-Mobile only works on the 900 MHz band and the SK3 doesn't have that. So, I have a few options here and I don't know which would be the best so I need your help. Here they are:

    1) Get discounted RAZR (or other quad phone), pay full price for SK3 (it's only $50 more) and switch SIM cards for when I want to use one phone.
    2) Get a BB Pearl, only I'm not a businessman and see myself more confortable with a SK3.
    3) Get other quad band phone, but I'd like something I can text and do all that on.
    4) Other ideas?

What do you think is the best? Thanks!

I have to say, SK3... Enjoy it while you can! Before you look to old for one, lol.

But yeah, I think Blackberries and smartphones, when you're not a businessman, can look a bit self-obsessed, you know?

    Sidekick!

Also (sorry for double reply!), you could have your sidekick to do all your extra stuff (ie web, hardcore texting lol). Then, instead of razr, get something very small just for calling and texting. You can pick up VK2000 (very slim phone) for fair cheap off the net, and they're TINY!

Yeah, I agree, I think I might look a little more self-consumed and geeky with a Crackberry. My dad probably will get the pearl when we switch, though.

What I think I'll do is I'll just get my quad band phone (t619, t629, Razr, V3t, pebl, etc.) when I switch and then get a Sidekick later on if I play my cards right with my parents. We'll probably switch this spring. I was hoping Santa would bring me a SK3, but I don't think Santa's willing to pay the ETF. So, I'll get a regular phone for China (probably in february or march) and a SK later on. Plus, as part of the deal with this, my family members can borrow my phone and my sister might be going to Italy this summer and I could just give her the quad band under my number and I could do the SK on prepaid for the time being.

I'm afraid I don't really like the VK2000 because I don't like candybar phones and that's dual euro band, not quad. But thanks for the info!

With your situation, I guess you can stick with your SK3. You can still run off GSM 1800/1900. It's just that your MMS may not work when using another network. If you wanted to, you can get the Euro version which has GSM 900.

The SK3 doesn't have MMS. But the two phone idea isn't a bad solution. I'll just see where I am next spring in terms of phones.
