I am sure there will some way out to stop tracking and most phones dont have GPS too, I would like the service providers to concentrate on QoS not on adding too many new services.

I won't track my husband if I get married. I think wife and husband should trust each other, otherwise, they shouldn't be together. I only use my ZorroGPS for navigation.

Maybe in the future Samsung i760 will supports GPS, but not now. That is why I ruled it out when I bought my phone.

Re: Cell Phone Tracking & GPS

So go into your phone menu and turn off gps...it can still be traced even with the 911 feature turned off....its really no different than your address being known or your internet being tracked down to your home address. ANYTHING that you communicate through MUST be accessible at least through the system your using. If its digital transmissions or analog the information MUST have an end point. If the system (cell phone, cable, internet ect.) didnt know where you were it would not be able to bring you the information or data or voice or whatever. If it didn't know where you were how would it know what phone to ring? Its an inherent evil nothing we can do about it except talk face to face. As far as anyone listening in on our phone calls or watching our internet connections and such that is WRONG. However as long as we pay these people for thier services, provided that they have a policy or something where it is written, they can do with it what they want.

On a lighter note the tracking stuff really does have its benefits. Lets say your wife goes out to do something and she needs directions. it would be nice to be able to give her turn by turn directions without having to distract her by trying to have her read street signs, or your kid calls and says he'll be home in 15 mins and then suddenly stops answering his\her phone. It would be nice to find out that he\she is simply smoking pot with a friend than being kidnapped and raped.

If it's used on kids, it's cool. I can know where they are and I will reset easy. But if it's used in husband or wife....Supposed my husband uses this on me, it will make me very angry cuz he doesn't trust me! So it's is a double blade sword. The important fact is how you use it.

You can check all GSM Frequencies.
the Unlocked Cell Phone works with the following GSM Frequencies: sourcinggate.com/sciphone-3gi-dual-sim-dual-standby-mobile-phone-with-bluetooth-p-6821.html
No matter where you live, you will get GSM Frequencies.

Re: Cell Phone Tracking & GPS

I'm guessing everyone is aware of the various cell phone spy software packages out there that allows any combination of the following:
    1) Operates in stealth mode, phone being tracked is unaware
    2) Can intercept text messages
    3) Can record conversations on a remote server
    4) Can review call logs
    5) Can track physical location via GPS
    6) Can notify in real time when target phone sends or receives a text or call
    7) Can query the phone via internet or bluetooth connections

My question is, does anyone know of a counter-spy method? Does there exist (or under development) a software package or other method that allows someone to detect that they are being spyed upon via their cell phone?

My internet research has not revealed any iron-clad method. One site suggested that you may see your phone display lighting up for no obvious reason; you didn't push a button, you aren't receiving a text or call. If you have internet connection time logging, you may notice there is more connect time than you can personally vouch for. Both of these instances are related to the assumption that the spy software/methods rely on the communication with the target phone via it's internet connection.

I don't know this but I am assuming that you could do some sort of (reverse) tapping through your service provider but this would probably require legal measures and service fees. In this particular instance I don't think the spying has criminal intent but is more along the lines of hacking (which I suppose could be construed as criminal in a pure definition).

Anybody have any useful input? Thanks in advance.

Although I don't specifically approve to this, I don't disapprove either. This technology might actually come in handy one day especially for parents' peace of mind knowing they can find their kid anytime in case they get lost. Although it will offend me, if I find out that my partner secretly spies on me I wouldn't be bothered at all because I'm not doing anything wrong to begin with. Anyway, bottom line is it is a pretty useful technology to be disregarded.

I think that this is possible through a simple java application. but it need a mobile with at least A-GPS.
