Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!

Good advise. Unless of course if the phone is too far gone into the depths. That is if it was wet for a real long time, you may need to get it serviced by authorized people.

    1. OFF - It's probably already off, don't turn it back on! If it happens to still be on, turn it off!
    2. Dry - Remove the battery, and anything else that can easily come off. If slider, unslide - flip, unflip. Dry off as much as you can with a napkin or small towel
    3. Wait - don't turn the phone on for at least a day, 2 is even better.
    4. Check - Put the battery back in, turn on the phone. Check everything, including keys to see that things are working properly. If they are, great, if not - next step
    5. Replace - If the last step failed - take the phone to your service provider. They will probably check the 'wet indicator' to see if the phone got wet. In most cases, in less you have a special warranty, your provider will not replace the phone for free. Good time to upgrade! Hopefully you have backed up your contacts!
Possibly add something to step 2. I work on a lot of wet phones..."must be something to do with all the students here at the u". there are 2 great ways to dry a phone. one with the battery out put the phone in a baggy full of white rice and place over a heater vent in the house, leave it here for at least one day.. the rice acts as a wick and will pull the moisture out of the phone.

two if its summer with the battery out place the phone on the dash of ur car, a good day of this and phone should be dry. the heat on the dash of the car will bake the moisture out very fast.

"my opinion the bag of rice works the best"

Re: Wet Cell Phone - Salt water

jennyyu is correct regarding the minerals
Well, professional speaking all this steps are basic requirements.
But if your cell dropped in salt water, that is an other matter, not just dry it can do. Because the mineral still remains inside the fone.

I spend much of my working life at sea and have gotten digital cameras, calculators, computers, myself and yes, cell phones soaked with sea water.
The main thing is to get the salt water out of what ever. Remove everything that can be removed then hold it under running fresh water. Flush it really well. Dry it by using low pressure (don't use the hose used to put air in the fork lift tires or half of what you are trying to dry will dissapear!) air. A hair drier if it can operate without heat is about right.
Then try everything else in this thread. It may work, I have brought phones and hearing aids back to life and had others remain dead.

edited to add that a lot of fresh water is better than minute amounts of salt water in that there is a greater chance of the item drying without any corrosion of contacts.

Never use a blowqdryer. If it doesn't begin working after a day or two or airdrying try placing it in the fridge overnight without the battery, this helps pull the moister out. This doesn't work all the time but it has worked for me in the past!

    best way to manage this

Hers the best way to manage this
    1. Just take all its parts off ie battery and skin (where possible)
    2. hold it and let the excessive water drain
    3. Turn on the fan and leave the cell phone for couple of hours
    4. After some time just flip the cell phone and again place it under fan

    Mine always starts workin

My NOKIA 1200 & LG KG 270 worked without any problem when they were wet!!!

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!

I work outdoors and have a phone in my breast pocket or clipped to my belt. A friend took a photo of me where all that could be seen was an arm and hand holding a notebook computer above a wave. It didn't help, salt spray damaged the computer and two phones were beyond salvageing. Radios are generally water tight and water tight phones are available but for what they cost one can throw away a half dozen regular phones.

I once carried in a phone to be replaced and the phone guy looked at the broken mess and asked, WTF? When I told him an 18 wheeler ran over it he did a perfect double take looking at my hand and head and was relieved when I explained that I dropped it first!

i got a new hiphone Ephone32 .it is also called y32 or piphone.
    This is a cool stuff.
first, i will say its size, from the first sight, it really looks like real iphone. ephone32 is with 115mm×61mm×11.6mm.and its weight is 95G.so slim and light to carry .
if you put ephone32 in your pocket you won't feel uncomfortable.that is not hiphone can compare.
second, when you touch the ephone32 LCD screen, it feels smooth like velvet.it is 3.2 inches for you to enjoy your favourite vedio.and at the two ends of screen, it is not as flat as LCD, it is down a little , when your thumb touch it, it seems that your finger sleeps in a sofa.
at the end of the screen there is a round button with a little square in the moddle to switch on and off .around the screen ephone32 screen is locked by shiny steel.looks fashianable and vogue.
now , switch it. you can see 5 interface. and blue earth image with four others like hiphone in it.then you can slide to get into ephone32 main theme.
there are 12 theme for ephone32, they are SMS,CALENDAR,CALLS,CAMERA,CALCULATOR,TOOLS,SETTINGS,DOCUMENTS,NOTES,CLOCK,SERVICE,JAVA. AND four other: PHONE,SMS,DIAL,MULTIMEDIA.
come into TEXT,there are sms, mms, chat, voice mail server, bradstcast message.you can directly write message here.
in tools, you can choose the sim cards there(dual sim cards).and e-book reader, bluetooth.
in setting column, you can see phone set, where you can choose time and date, languages (there are ten languages,English,German, Portuguese,Vienam,Aribian, italian, russian,Franch ,Tuekish,2 chinese)
in servicer, there is google, yahoo, Amason in it.
in Java column, you can download Java games, and office software like world, excel etc.
at the bottom of Main theme, there are PHONE,SMS,DIAL,MULTIMEDIA,
you can directly dial the numbers ,write messages, come to carema, games, vedio player, audio palyer, photo editor, vedio carema, recorder, FM radio.
As for the accessaries, it is with USB cable (charger), software is not needed , just insert cable to computer you can download music and vedios.
and you can shake to change the songs and vedios.
As i know, it is the best iphone alike mobile phone i have ever seen.
PS it is with 1 GB TF card inside, I tried 4GB card it is abaliable.

Bite the bullet and accept that your daughter is LYING. The wet indicator only turns red when it gets WET, I said wet and not damp. The battery does not leak and if it did, it doesn't leak WATER.
