Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
I actually jumped into swimming pool and swam a lap with phone in my pocket. My model is an old one, Samsung dumb x427m, so maybe not typical. I took the whole thing apart, way beyond just removing the battery, let dry overnight plus some, blew some with a hairdryer set to cold, re-assembled, and worked good as new. Not sure why the battery didn't short out, maybe the way this particular model is built or way it happened to be tangled in pocket, but it didn't. Phone was off at the time, not on silent or vibrate, fully off.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
clayton whoa you completely forgot about your phone
I also got my phone wet once several years ago. I was in my bathtub and my phone was placed on the side and the funny thing is I haven't noticed that it was missing from where I put it till I drained the tub after my bath then noticed that my phone has joined me in my bath LOL.. I just left it lying around for a couple of days, not even made an effort to dry it but luckily it worked fine when I turned it on

That's funny ... good thing I'm a tinkerer, probably eventually would have taken it apart anyway just to see what's inside.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
My old Nokia got knocked into a sink full of water . I turned it off , removed the battery , blew it out gently with air and then hung from a piece of copper wire under the a/c vent on the ceiling . By the end of the night 3 hours later it came on and worked fine but I went ahead and let it hang there overnight . The a/c really dried it out fast . I used that phone for another 2 years
Hope this helps someone else out there

Another tip I got from another site is to put your wet phone in a baggie or ziploc bag with uncooked grains of rice in it and let sit for a day. The rice absorbs all the moisture in the phone.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
I agree. It actually happened to me already. My phone was just in my pocket all the time and then one day it started having issues. When I took it to a repair shop the tech told me that the phone's wet indicator appeared red but I swear I haven't gottn the phone wet, and then the guy said that putting the phone in the pockets can attract moisture build up inside the phone

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
Here are steps for how I saved my wet blackberry -
1 - Immediately remove the device from water (obviously)
2 - Remove the battery
3 - Dry with a paper towel
4 - If you have a vacuum cleaner you can try removing the majority of the water using the vacuum. This will get more of the wetness removed from under the keyboard, etc. (Do not use a blow dryer)
5 - Place your phone in a bowl / bag of rice for 24hrs. I personally used white rice...
6 - Cross your fingers and say a prayer
Do not try to turn your phone on during any of these steps because you may cause further damage by shorting out something.
Good luck - hope this helps.

Take the battery out and put the phone in to a bowl of rice, Yes plain dry uncooked white rice and let it sit for about 24 hours. The rice will draw the water out of the phone.
it really works I have used it several times.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
The best solution I've had, and recommended to customer's when they've called me ( I work for a major provider)...is rice.
Get a ziplock bag and take anything thats suppossed to come off your phoen off- battery/back, etc. Put them in the ziplock bag with 1 cup of uncooked rice. Then close the bag. The uncooked rice will pull the moisture from the air, and the inside of your phone. Leave it in overnight. The sooner you do this the better. Same day would be great, but works well up to a couple weeks after getting wet. And best of all, its free! And service and repair won't cover water damage, you better have insurance or an upgrade avail. If you have an upgrade, best resource I've found is www.cellphonehelp.org for cheap replacements.
