Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
It's really very helpful and useful advice. I also follow first three step. But for last step, that time didn't come yet. Hope will not come.

Well most people open their phone again out of panic. I heard that rice helps absorb the moisture in the phone. Not sure where to put the rice or put the phone. Haha

Most insurance will not cover moisture damage;
Most phones have a moisture damage seal that changes color when exposed to moisture.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
Hi! I'm a newbie here. I just caught a glimpse of this thread and I read the first suggestion. It's great if you can save your phone from doing those things after it gets wet but from my own personal experience, all the cellphones that I either dropped into a watery surface or dripped over some liquid into has never been used or even lit up again. I guess I'm unlucky.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
Cellphones and water don't mix. People know this, yet the tragedy plays out regularly in a variety of scenarios. It could be a slip into the toilet, a tumble in the washing machine, a beer-based lack of judgment, or a thorough drenching in a hurricane.
It's sometimes possible to save your electronic lifeline, but Step One is avoiding panic, because there are several "fixes" that might seem to make sense, but could do more harm than good.
In the video below, Stacy Johnson -- who admits to dunking his own iPhone -- talks about what you can try to restore your soaked electronics.

Immediately take the battery out of the phone. Wipe whatever area you can dry. Get a bag or a bowl and fill it with rice. Allow your phone to sit in the rice for 24 hours. It will absorb the extra moisture. Happened to me before (put my cell in the washer dummy me) and the phone worked fine after following these procedures.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
thanks for the great info you got there! i thought for a while that an hour of drying off a wet submerged phone was enough. it was logical to wait for a day because of the wet and moistened parts. turning on the phone while it is still wet could cause a short circuit on the phone. great topic indeed!

thanks for sharing, no idea what needs to be done. I feel to remove all the parts separately and to dry it first.

Re: Wet Cell Phone - What To Do if Your Cell Phone Gets Wet!
[QUOTE=tavenger5;1193529]First of all - don't panic!
- OFF - It's probably already off, don't turn it back on! If it happens to still be on, turn it off!
- Dry - Remove the battery, and anything else that can easily come off. If slider, unslide - flip, unflip. Dry off as much as you can with a napkin or small towel
- Wait - don't turn the phone on for at least a day, 2 is even better.
- Check - Put the battery back in, turn on the phone. Check everything, including keys to see that things are working properly. If they are, great, if not - next step
- Replace - If the last step failed - take the phone to your service provider. They will probably check the 'wet indicator' to see if the phone got wet. In most cases, in less you have a special warranty, your provider will not replace the phone for free. Good time to upgrade! Hopefully you have backed up your contacts!
