It looks like we may finally see the Sonim's XP3.20 coming to the states. The XP3.20, which is an updated and tweaked version of the original XP3, is said to be coming to North America this summer, according to Sonim's CEO. The toughphone features 850MHz GSM for North American use, has better talk time and better survivability. And to top it all off, will be arriving in a crush and water resistant box. No price has been mentioned as of yet.

Re: Sonim's rugged XP3.20 coming to States
I'm really excited about this phone. Due to the nature of my work (and my recreational activities), I need a tough phone. However, I do have a question. I have AT&T as my carrier. If I buy an XP3.20, can I just put my sims card in it and be able to use it?

Re: Sonim's rugged XP3.20 coming to States
I received my Sonim XP3.20. To put it into layman's terms, it sucks. Due to all of the protective casing, the volume of the phone is extremely low. I have to jam the phone into my ear to even hear. I'm using AT&T as my carrier. The Sonim gets 1-3 bars of service whereas my older Sony Ericsson gets full bars of service. In some areas, my Sonim gets no service yet my Sony Ericsson Shine gets full service. I do not understand this, I thought the XP3.20 supposedly had all the frequencies and bands to work on AT&Ts networks.
The phone does have a few good features. It has a very large battery. It has a camera (2mp) with a flash. It has a really good headset (rubberized ear pieces with mic). It has an fm radio too. It also has a gps feature, though I can't get it to do anything.

Re: Sonim's rugged XP3.20 coming to States
Update: I found out what was wrong with my phone. The Sonim XP3.20 Quest I had was set for European cellphone frequencies. I have sent my phone back to Sonim and they claim to be sending me one set for American cellphone frequencies.
Here is how to tell what frequencies your phone is set for-
Take off the battery on the back of the phone. Inside in the phone there should be a small white sticker. If on the sticker it says "Sonim XP3.20-E", then the phone is set for European cellphone frequencies. If it says "Sonim XP3.20-A", then it is set for American frequencies.
