Well today I went to hit the gym, and then noticed that all the gatorade in my bag leaked. My phone was in my bag at the time. So I had to empty my bag and rinse the gatorade and dump the gatorade water in the garbage from my bag. Since the leakage my phone hasn't been working. What can I do to get it to work again?????? Don't know if I posted this in right section either cause I am new to this forum.

Welcome to CellPhoneForums.net! If you'd like, you can post an introduction here: New Member Introductions - Cell Phone Forums

I'm sorry to hear about your phone. It is usually suggested to put a phone in a bowl of rice which is supposed to help dry it out. You can try that to see if it works.

With all the sugar that probably got in the phone it would probably have to be pulled apart and cleaned piece by piece with rubbing alcohol. Depends on the phone too.

Yeah, you could probably try the rice trick, but I agree that it might be hard to clean out well.

Technology is really sensitive to liquid damage. My wife had a MacBook Pro that was ruined by a little iced tea spilling on it.

My phone is water resistant. It's supposed to be able to be under water at a certain depth for a certain amount of time. I'm not sure exactly what it can do, but I do know if I drop it in the sink or something that it will turn out just fine, which is nice. I didn't purchase the phone because of the feature, it just came with it. It's nice to know that water can't easily damage it.

I've had success with the rice trick, so I would suggest you try that, first. Pull the back off the phone, take the battery out, and put everything in a bowl of uncooked, dry rice. Leave it overnight and then put the phone back together again the next morning and keep your fingers crossed! Good luck.

    Hi,
Although the rice method helps.... The correct way of doing it would be to open the phone up and treating the phpne... but if you are not that savy you could take the battery out, and apply a blow dryer on low heat and that should work. You have to remember that the circuits inside the phone are wet and dirt/mildew from the water or in ur case gatorade normally remains which clogs up the circuitry. So it is better if the phone is opened up so you could apply alcohol to treat and clean the phone if you want the phone to survive in the long run. I hope this helps

I heard before that electronics can get wet with water, and be perfectly fine, and as long as they dry completely. Is that correct?

If a computer is submerged in clean water and then sits out for a month will it be able to turn on?

I don't plan on trying it, I'm just wondering.

When your gadget got wet, you don't have to panic. Stay calm and just quickly dry it. Remove the battery immediately and place it in front of an electric fan or dryer. If you heard on rice method, well, it can help too.

Even though this was a very old post...

The rice method is like first aid for your phone until you get it properly disassembled and cleaned. Sometimes it works but usually you will run into problems later on depending on which components came into contact with the liquid. Avoid blowing air directly into the phone as it can drive moisture even deeper inside the inner shielding and become trapped. A vacuum would be a better option if you can figure out a good way to make some sort of seal around one of the entry points. Definitely avoid heat as it can quicken the corrosion process. The problem beyond corrosion is that even water is far more impure than you think and leaves traces of these impurities behind even after the phone dries out. Drinks like Gatorade are especially bad because they contain electrolytes which conduct electricity very well. Salt water is one of the worst things that there is for electronics for this reason. I could give you a few more tips if I knew what kind of phone you have.

    Thank you for the information.

I really think they should make more phones water resistant. That would solve a lot of problems.
