Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and make sure “Automatic brightness” is disabled
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease the screen luminosity
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm
  6. From the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep”
  7. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: You can prolong your phone’s battery life if you disable connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Tap “Wi-Fi” and set the Wi-Fi slider to “OFF”
  4. Tap “Bluetooth” and set it to “OFF”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  6. Tap “Mobile Hotspot” and set the feature to “OFF”
  7. Return to “Settings” once again, and swipe to “Personal”
  8. Tap “Location” and set the GPS slider to “OFF”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Data usage”
  4. Press “Menu” and check the “Restrict app background data” option

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run if you set your phone to sync less data / less often.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the account you want to change sync settings for
  5. Clear the desired sync options
  6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t use them. This is because some apps can run processes in the background. As such, to improve battery life you can disable or remove rarely or never-used third party apps.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Swipe to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Swipe to the “Downloaded” screen
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Disable”
  6. If necessary, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Open the Apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “More” > “Cellular networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Select “2G only”
