Change Display Settings:

  1. On the Start screen, tap “Settings”
  2. Tap “System” > “Display”
  3. From the “Display” menu you can:
    • Turn “Automatically adjust display brightness” on or off
    • Adjust brightness manually by dragging the slider
    • Turn “Rotation lock” on or off
    • Drag the slider under “Rotation lock” to increase the font / item size
  4. Tap “Apply” after performing the desired changes
  5. Lastly, for Glance Screen customization you can go to “Settings” > “Extras” > “Glance Screen”

Change Time & Date Settings:

  1. Tap “Settings” on the Start screen
  2. Go to “Time & Language”
  3. Tap “Date & Time” to set date and time manually. NOTE: To gain access to manual settings, both “set date and time automatically” and “24-hour clock” should be disabled
  4. Tap the “Date” fields, perform the desired changes and tap “Check”
  5. You can also tap “Time” and adjust “Hour”, “Minute”, “Meridian” etc.
  6. Tap “Check” (done)

Set an Alarm:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left to access “App list”
  2. Tap “Alarms & Clock”
  3. To create a new alarm, tap “+” in the lower area of the screen
  4. Set the time, ringtone, and snooze timer options for the alarm and tap “Save”

NOTE: You can also use the “Alarms & Clock” app to view “World Clock” or set a “Timer” / “Stopwatch” by tapping the tabs at the top of the screen.

Tips to Improve Battery Life

Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” screen
  2. Access “System” > “Battery saver”
  3. Tap to enable “Battery saver”
  4. For additional options, tap “battery saver settings”

Decrease Screen Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Personalization”
  3. Go to “Lock screen”
  4. Tap “Screen time out after” and select a lower value

TIP: Decreasing the screen brightness as explained above can also improve battery life in the long run.

Turn Off App Auto-Update from Store:

  1. On the Start screen, tap “Store”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
  3. Tap to disable “Update apps automatically when I’m on Wi-Fi”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS When Not in Use:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity options when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Drag the “Notification” bar down on the Start screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to turn off the features
  3. Go back to the Start screen and tap “Settings”
  4. Tap “Privacy” > “Location”
  5. Disable GPS
