Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Battery” under “Device
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
  3. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. For additional GPS options, tap “Location
  5. Next, tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  6. To turn off Hotspot, first go back to “Settings
  7. Next, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” and disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Tap to select “2G

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, you can improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  3. Access the “Downloaded” section
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force stop
  5. To remove the app completely, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing sync. To do this:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal
  4. Select an account type and clear check boxes associated with the desired sync options

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. If necessary, tap to disable “Adaptive brightness
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep
  6. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. As such, it’s recommended to keep your phone’s OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll down to “System” and tap “About phone
  4. Tap “System updates
  5. In case an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
