Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver
  5. Tap to turn on “Battery Saving Mode

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen brightness
  5. Go back to “Display
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds

Turn Off Connectivity Features When Not In Use:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
  3. Next, open the “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” for additional GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  6. Go back to “Settings
  7. Tap “Wireless & networks” > “Mode
  8. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and tap the switch to disable the feature

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. First, access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Select the desired account type and choose an account
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. Tap “Back” to save the changes

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party applications on your phone can affect battery performance even when they are not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Apps
  4. Go to “Downloads” and select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn off the app
  6. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove the app from the phone
