Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Tap “Battery” under “Device
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to turn off these features
  3. For additional GPS settings, go to “Settings” and tap “Location
  4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  5. Go back to the “Settings” menu and tap “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Mode” > “Tethering & mobile hotspot
  7. Turn off “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G

Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Device” and tap “Display
  3. Tap “Brightness level
  4. If necessary, turn off “Adaptive brightness
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  6. Go back to “Display
  7. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing sync settings to decrease sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type
  5. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some of your third party applications can have a negative effect on your phone’s battery performance even when not in use, as apps can perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you might be able to increase battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps
  4. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK
