Wipe Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone is unresponsive, crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the device’s cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data from the device’s internal memory.

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Next, press and hold “Volume Up” and “Power” simultaneously
  3. At the “Alcatel” startup screen, release “Power
  4. Once you see the Android System Recovery menu, release “Volume Up” too
  5. Navigate the Recovery menu using the volume buttons, and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  6. Press “Power” to select the option
  7. After the cache is cleared, you will be prompted to “Reboot system now
  8. With the reboot option highlighted, press “Power” to confirm and wait for the device to restart

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the problems, you can try factory resetting the phone instead. Follow this thread for instructions.

Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache and / or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal information stored within the app, such as credit card and login information, saved games and profiles, settings etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing data, try clearing only the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to the “All” screen
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Clear cache
  6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (See WARNING above)

Reboot to Safe Mode:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled. To enter safe mode and remove an app:

  1. Wake up the screen
  2. Press and hold “Power
  3. At the pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  4. When prompted to reboot in Safe Mode, tap “OK” (Once the phone restarts, it should show a “Safe Mode” label in the lower-left area of the screen)
  5. Once in safe mode, go to “Settings
  6. Tap “Apps” and swipe to “All
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  8. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and restart your phone as you normally would
