Back Up App Data:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
- To back up account data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google account, enable “Back up my data”
- If you want app data to be automatically restored upon reinstalling apps, turn on “Automatic Restore”
NOTE: Account data and settings will be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the account you wish to use for syncing contacts
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the OnePlus 3 to your computer via USB
- When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, or enable the option from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Use the Explorer to locate the media files on your phone
- Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the PC
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the OnePlus 3 to your computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” when prompted, or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files backed up on the PC storage and copy them
- Transfer the files on the phone, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
