Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Access “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen
- Go to “Settings” for additional options
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep”
Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to disable these features
- For more options, go to “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Location” (GPS)
- Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
- To turn off Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
- Ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Tap “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove it from the phone
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
- Chang the available sync settings to reduce synced data
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
