Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
- Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- For GPS options, launch “Settings” and go to “Location”
- Next tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
- Select the desired account
- Change the available sync settings
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Next open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “adaptive brightness”
- Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout option like “15 seconds”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
