Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open “Contacts”
- Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account for contact syncing
- Ensure “Contacts” is enabled
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a PC:
- Connect the Android device to your computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders from where they originate
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
