Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot.

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps” and select “All apps” form the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired application
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account and change the account’s sync settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
