Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider in the quick toggle area towards the left
  3. Next launch “Settings
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Press “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can conserve battery life.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options and tap “Mode
  5. Enable “Battery saving
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps
  4. Select “All apps” from the drop-down menu at the top
  5. Select the desired application
  6. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  7. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your account’s sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Go to “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
