Back up & Restore App Data:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
  4. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow settings, app data, and passwords to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Computer:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and paste the files in the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Restore Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the media files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders of origin
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB cord
