Back up & Restore App Data:
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow settings, app data, and passwords to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Computer:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
- Copy and paste the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Restore Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC
- Copy and transfer the media files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders of origin
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB cord
